Veedersburg, Jan. 3.--- John D. Hesler, 65, who on January 1 retired as clerk of Fountain county, died Monday, January 2, at midnight, at his home two miles south of Veedersburg. Mr. Hesler had been suffering from a heart ailment for several months and while his condition had been regarded as serious, death came unexpectedly. The deceased, long active in Republican affairs of Fountain county, served one term as county clerk, and was defeated for re-election for the term beginning with the New Year. He was born on January 13, 1873, the son of Jacob and Lydia Annis Hesler. His entire life was spent in the Veedersburg community. On September 6, 1899, he was married to Anna Hershberger, who survives, with one son, Ernest, of Veedersburg, and three daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Kennedy and Mrs. Della Caster of Crawfordsville, and Mrs. Ruth Weigel of West Point. Also surviving are two brothers, Harley Hesler of Veedersburg, and Freeman Hesler, of Danville, Ill., and one sister, Mrs. Alice Teegarden, of Veedersburg. Mr. Hesler was a member of the Methodist church of Veedersburg. No arrangements for the funeral have been made.  --typed by Walt W
